Due to technical concerns,  issue 2 of Civilized Revolt is coming out a week late.  It was  released late last night but I finally got around to looking at the stats from issue 1.  We have visitors from Saudi Arabia, England,  the EU, Canada, Southern African Union, Australia, South Korea, Japan, etc. etc.  My Issue 1 article was the third most popular at 111 reads.  So all in all, I and the rest of the CR staff are feeling pretty good about it so far.  Oh, and the majority of our guests dropped in around 2 in the afternoon.  Cute.

Read on.  I can promise that the next issue will be on time, meaning that it's only a week out.  Enjoy.

P.S. The "group" playing on my site is Enya, the woman who practically invented New Age in the late 1980's and who still owns it to this day.  She is my favorite artist, bar none.

Jarret's wonderful life of doom.

My article is towards the bottom of the right sidebar.

P.S. My sense of whimsy apparently stole up behind me and caught me by surprise.  So now you have Enya instead of Ben Folds.  Enjoy.

Why, because it's a Civilized Revolt, of course.

Whenever I get deeply discouraged and feel like I'm in a rut like I was feeling since last night and up until a moment ago, I listen to songs like Bad Religion's "Los Angeles is Burning."

When the hills of Los Angeles are burning
Palm trees are candles in the murder wind
So many lives are on the breeze
Even the stars are ill at ease
And Los Angeles is burning

Whenever I hear those lyrics I immediately imagine a man running at full speed away from a blazing inferno that's perpetually licking at his heels.

This is not a test
Of the emergency broadcast system
Where Malibu fires and radio towers
Conspire to dance again
And I cannot believe the media Mecca
They're only trying to peddle reality,
Catch it on prime time, story at nine
The whole world is going insane

Oh, and I forgot to mention one thing: The man is smirking as he runs.  Why?  Because Los Angeles burns, yes, but he's got the world on a string and it's his.  But he just has to get out of Los Angeles first.

A placard reads
"the end of days"
Jacaranda boughs are bending in the haze
More a question than a curse
How could hell be any worse?
The flames are stunning
The cameras running
So take warning

When the hills of Los Angeles are burning
Palm trees are candles in the murder wind
So many lives are on the breeze
Even the stars are ill at ease
And Los Angeles is burning
